They grew their roots in the Nlaka'pamux region and have spent the last 15+ years in the beautiful Sto:lo Territory. Growing up in the Fraser Canyon they have an appreciation for remote, rural and Indigenous healthcare. Charise (Reece) enjoys working in all areas of Physiotherapy but has developed a special interest in: Indigenous health, remote health, persistent or complex pain, pediatrics (kids), 2SLGBTQIA+, and water therapy. Their passion is by helping you listen to your body to find the answers you need. They offer culturally aware practices and may include diverse exercises, hands on manual therapy, taping, suctioning, traction, IFC, ultrasound, and somatic work. Before graduating in 2018 from a Doctor of Physiotherapy in Australia, Reece worked locally as a Kinesiologist. They graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley with a Bachelor of Kinesiology with a special focus in sports training. In Australia They strengthened their skills working at large tertiary hospitals in Brisbane, Cairns and Darwin. They also enjoyed fly in fly out community physiotherapy where they worked in remote hospitals, doctors offices, home health and age-care facilities. Reece has worked with a wide variety of sports teams/events including: Cascades Basketball, Team Canada Basketball, Major Midget Hockey, AHL Canucks, Bond University Rugby, and the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. They have experience in teaching swimming and paddling, water therapy, return to work programs, home health, falls prevention, neobladders, chronic disease, persistent pain and pediatrics(kids). Reece has worked with the Sto:lo team since 2021 as a Healthy Living Coordinator and Physiotherapist. Their focus is to provide equitable Physiotherapy to First Nations and Metis people in the lower mainland. Their services include: clinic visits, home visits, hospital visits, telephone consults, support work, advocacy, mechanical traction, exercise programs, and somatic work.
