Reema Qamar, RCC
À propos de Reema
Dans ses motsDriven by compassion and empathy, I am dedicated to supporting my clients through the aftermath of trauma and helping them embark on a journey of self-discovery so they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. I hold the perspective that human suffering arises when we have difficulty reconciling the difference between our reality and our expectations, which can evoke complex emotions that may lead to disconnection from ourselves in the form of anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. Engaging in therapy can provide a space to lighten your heart and open up about what happened to you so you can gain clarity on the direction you would like to move forward from here.
As a registered clinical counsellor, I work with adults and youth with anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, and relational discourse. I also work with women and men who are victims of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse or have had adverse childhood experiences. I provide counselling for concerns that include self-esteem issues, anger and stress management, emotional dysregulation, addictions, grief and loss, bicultural identity crises, family conflict, acculturative stress, and life transitions. I work with families experiencing inter-generational conflict due to acculturation, intercultural tension from changes in family structure and dynamics, and immigrants experiencing mental health issues. I am fluent in Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi, which allows me to help individuals overcome language barriers.
My approach is integrative and holistic with a culturally responsive, developmentally sensitive lens influenced by an understanding of the impact of trauma on the brain and CBT as my main modality. This approach allows me to gain insight into a client’s unique developmental experiences, trauma responses, and belief systems. I also draw from DBT skills training, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapies, attachment, EMDR, somatic experiencing, family systems, and Gottman Method.
I provide a safe, warm, and cozy environment for our sessions to connect and discuss your concerns. The goal of our therapy sessions together will be to help you develop the mental fortitude needed to heal, achieve personal growth, and enhance your well-being. Moreover, we will work on developing self-compassion, which will allow you to move more easily through difficult times in the future and attain a sense of inner peace and empowerment to advocate for your well-being. I truly believe that each individual is the expert on their life and holds the potential to heal through their inner strength and wisdom to improve the quality of their life. With validation, compassion, and trust in the therapeutic relationship, I can help individuals heal from their past and support them in navigating through emotional complexities and life transitions, enhancing their quality of life and well-being.
