What were you doing before pursuing RMT?
Before studying massage therapy, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Food, Nutrition, and Health, and spent 8 years working in the food industry. It was a fast-paced, problem-solving environment, but what I valued most was learning how to work with people, supporting teammates and growing together through challenges. What I valued most was learning how to work with people, supporting teammates and figuring things out together as we went.
Why do you want to be an RMT?
I’ve always enjoyed working with people one-on-one, and through my own injuries, I spent a lot of time with healthcare practitioners. That experience led me to pursue massage therapy, and I haven’t looked back since. I now aim to support people as they reduce pain, move better, and feel more at ease in their bodies.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work/school?
Outside of school, I enjoy lifting, basketball, running, and cooking, as well as spending quality time with friends and family.
What is your favourite thing about VCMT?
The supportive instructors and the diversity within my class have made the learning experience both challenging and rewarding. It’s inspiring to study alongside people from so many different backgrounds who all share the same goal of helping others feel better.
