Hello!
My name is Sabrina Reed. I am a Registered Psychologist with Paramount Psychology. I am originally from a small farming community in Southern Alberta and moved to Grande Prairie in 2022.
Growing up, my mother worked as a farmer while my father worked in the oilfield, so I personally know some of the unique challenges that stem from these lines of work. I have always had a passion for helping others, which led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge, and later a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
My experience includes volunteering at various seniors’ centres, volunteering with children, and later working at a Women’s Shelter in Lethbridge, supporting women and their children fleeing domestic abuse. While working at the Women’s Shelter and completing my Master’s, I had the privilege of cofacilitating various groups on domestic abuse support, sex addiction, and spousal support for sex addiction.
While in Grande Prairie the past three years, I have had the privilege of counselling a variety of individuals, couples and children. I utilise an eclectic approach to counselling, drawing from Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness. This allows me to better adapt my counselling approach to your individual needs and unique personality.
At times, I may challenge you, but it will always be from a place of warmth and compassion. I know that every coping strategy, even maladaptive ones, once served a purpose and protected us when we needed them the most.
I am happily accepting new clients, and I welcome the opportunity to work with adults, couples and youth ages 12 and older. I have experience working with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress and coping skills, relationship issues, and boundaries and communication skills, to name a few.
If you are considering counselling, I invite you to reach out. I would be honoured to work with you and support you on your journey.
