About Samantha
Samantha Meehan- Speech-Language Pathologist
Sam is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Allied Therapy who is passionate about supporting communication, feeding, and meaningful participation for individuals across the lifespan. Her practice spans both developmental and acquired communication needs, with particular experience supporting clients with complex communication and physical needs.
As an AuDHD (Autistic and ADHD) clinician, Sam brings both clinical knowledge and lived experience to her practice. Her understanding of sensory preferences, neurodivergent language processing, and executive functioning informs a neurodiversity-affirming approach where clients’ individual communication styles, sensory needs, and ways of engaging with the world are respected.
Sam has extensive experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and works with individuals who communicate using a range of modalities. She is also able to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL) and supports bilingual and bimodal communication, integrating sign, speech, and high-tech communication systems according to each client’s needs and preferences.
Her clinical experience also includes post-stroke rehabilitation, voice disorders, swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), and progressive neurological conditions. Whether someone is adapting to neurological changes, recovering following an acute injury, or developing a communication system that better meets their needs, Sam focuses on practical strategies that support communication, safety, independence, and quality of life.
Sam values removing barriers to both connection and nourishment. Her approach is collaborative and client-centered, with recommendations designed around each person’s sensory profile, communication preferences, daily routines, environment, and individual goals.
Clients and families value Sam’s clinical versatility, neurodiversity-affirming perspective, and ability to translate complex communication and feeding needs into practical strategies that can be used in everyday life.
Outside of work, Sam enjoys building intricate Lego structures and training in Muay Thai.
Sam is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia and provides services in-clinic and virtually across Nova Scotia.
