Shannon Burton, MSW, RSW is a registered social worker who solely focuses on challenges related to children, youth and their families. Shannon pulls from her experience as a school board social worker, ER hospital paediatric social worker and community children's mental health counsellor. She has devoted over the last 20 plus years of her learning and practice to the health and well-being of children and youth.
Shannon uses music, drama, art, play, sand tray, movement and yoga techniques integrated into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused models.
This mother of two has been described as passionate, genuine and energetic. Shannon continues to see the resiliency in the younger generations during challenging times. Her passion resides in helping children and youth feel heard, understood and supported on their healing journey.

Shannon usually supports clients 6-18 years of age and their families. However, she will support clients and families with children 2-5 years of age, as well as 19-21 years of age on a case by case basis.

Initial appointment information: Children/youth and caregivers must attend the initial appointment together. After the first session, it is at the therapist's recommendation, in conjunction with the family, to determine whether individual child/youth sessions and/or family sessions are appropriate for future sessions.
