About Shavonne
Shavonne is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator, and yoga instructor. She completed her undergraduate degree in Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph, and then went on to complete her Masters of Health Science in Nutrition Communication at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) as well as her dietetic internship.
After having a difficult time dealing with her own health when she was diagnosed with celiac disease as a teenager, she knew that she wanted to help others better understand how to take control of their health. She has worked extensively in community nutrition over the last 10 years. She provides a weight-neutral approach and works with patients to improve their health through nutrition and lifestyle changes by providing an individualized, evidenced-based approach. She believes it is important to address all aspects of lifestyle including nutrition, stress, sleep, and activity, and takes a holistic approach to your care. Areas of nutrition counselling include: general healthy eating/lifestyle, gut health, IBS, meal planning, blood sugar management and diabetes, heart health (high cholesterol, high blood pressure, history of heart disease), PCOS, family nutrition, enteral feeds, malnutrition, emotional and mindful eating, seniors nutrition, and many other health concerns.
As a busy mom of 2 young children, she understands that it can be difficult to prioritize your health goals, but she believes that everyone can build healthy and sustainable habits with the right information and support... no restrictive diet needed.
In her spare time you can find Shavonne out on a run with her 2 rescue dogs, at a yoga class, or spending time outside with family and friends.
