About Spenser
Welcome! I’m Spenser Dion, and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist at Solace Psychology & Wellness. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree through Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Psychology from Concordia University of Edmonton. I have over 9 years of experience working with children, teens, and families who face a variety of barriers to healthy living. This
experience has propelled me into advancing my education in becoming a therapist. I am deeply committed to creating a safe and supportive
space for individuals to explore their inner world, overcome challenges, and achieve greater self-awareness and personal growth.
Therapy for Children, Teens, Adults, Couples, and Families
I enjoy supporting clients through various life challenges. Particularly, I enjoy helping clients cope with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem, and major life transitions. I am also passionate about working with parents as they navigate the parenting journey, teaching parents helpful strategies for fostering child development as well as tools for their own self-regulation and growth.
I don’t believe therapy should be a one-size fits all approach. My approach to therapy is integrative, blending different treatment modalities to create a personalized and effective experience for each client. I primarily work from a Person-Centered lens, blending in interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), mindfulness, and Compassion Based Therapy. When working with children, I bring in elements of play, sandtray and art therapy.
I strive to foster a collaborative relationship with my clients, valuing their unique perspectives, strengths, and values. Together, we create a safe and non-judgmental space where my clients can explore their challenges and discover their own inner resources for healing and personal growth. I prioritize empathy, warmth, and genuineness to create a positive therapeutic relationship that promotes trust and openness. I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives, and I strive to understand their unique needs, experiences, and goals.
A Bit About Me
When I’m not in therapist mode, you’ll probably find me hanging out with friends, family, or my pup! I’m passionate about holistic wellness and taking in all the beauty life has to offer. Whether that means strength training, yoga, or enjoying whatever outdoor sport the season brings. I’ve recently gotten into golf, I love to ski when winter hits, and I thoroughly enjoy festival season during the summer! I also love to cook and host; there’s nothing better than good food, music, and belly laughs with loved ones. That said, I’m equally content curled up at home with reality TV as my not-so-guilty pleasure!
