Dans ses motsSusan is an experienced physiotherapist who holds a B.Sc. (Commendation) in Physiotherapy from The Queen’s College, Glasgow. She brings decades of clinical experience, supported by advanced postgraduate training and professional certifications.
In addition to her clinical practice, Susan has contributed to the profession as an instructor for UBC undergraduate physiotherapy students and as an international educator. She has taught postgraduate clinicians across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Asia as a PBFR (ORS) Certification Course Instructor. Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation (PBFR) is an evidence-based approach that enhances strength, recovery, and performance using low-load training, and is effective for musculoskeletal injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and athletic conditioning. Susan has also contributed to a PBFR Prehab Knee Arthroplasty research study in collaboration with a VCH orthopaedic surgeon.
Susan is a Certified Klose-trained CDT/MLD therapist specializing in lymphedema management and oncology rehabilitation. With over 3 decade of clinical experience in post-cancer care, her services include the treatment of radiation fibrosis and axillary cording, as well as manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, garment fitting and prescription, and exercise-based rehabilitation. Her treatment approach combines advanced lymphedema management techniques with compassionate patient education and long-term self-management strategies to support optimal recovery and quality of life.
Susan also has expertise in women’s health, including pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause, and urinary incontinence.
In the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries/sports injuries, Susan's approach integrates advanced manual therapy techniques—gained through completion of the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s advanced courses—including joint mobilization, spinal manipulation, and myofascial therapy, alongside Intra-Muscular Stimulation (Gunn IMS/dry needling) for chronic pain management.
Susan provides individualized care through comprehensive assessment, exercise prescription, and movement analysis, with a focus on pelvic and lower back instability, as well as PBFR-based rehabilitation for sports injuries, generalized weakness, prehabilitation, and post-surgical recovery.
Outside of her practice, Susan enjoys spending time with her family, hiking the North Shore trails with her dog, running along the seawall, pickleball, skiing, and connecting with friends.
