About Sydney
Hello, I'm completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and am honoured to be supporting clients at NeurAlive as a practicum student under the clinical supervision of Marion Orr, RCC.
I offer a gentle, calm, and collaborative space where we can honour your emotions and unique experiences at your own pace. Sessions can involve exploring your underlying needs, identifying what matters most to you, and working toward the changes you’re hoping for. My approach is client-led, and I believe that warmth, authenticity, and a natural sense of humour help make the therapeutic process feel approachable, empowering, and genuinely supportive.
Whether you're feeling disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or your sense of purpose, some of the areas I commonly support clients with include:
Anxiety, Stress, Depression and Emotional Well-Being: I believe that our overall well-being is shaped by the inter-connectedness of our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual selves. I offer a thoughtful and compassionate approach to helping you navigate the emotional burdens of anxiety, stress, depression, and other challenges affecting your well-being and sense of self. My goal is to help you develop practical coping skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the patterns contributing to your distress, so you can move toward greater balance, resilience, and emotional wellness.
Loneliness, Friendships and Connection: Feeling lonely or disconnected can be incredibly painful. Meaningful friendships and a sense of belonging are just as important to our mental health as romantic relationships. If you're struggling to build friendships, maintain close connections, or find your place in an increasingly isolated world, I'd love to support you. We'll explore what's getting in the way, strengthen your confidence in connecting with others, and help you create deeper, more authentic relationships with others.
Relationship Challenges: I believe that unmet needs are often the quiet fuel behind escalating conflict and deep-seated resentment. When partners feel disconnected, repetitive arguments usually point to deeper, unspoken longings for safety, appreciation, or intimacy. My role is to provide a space where we can untangle these patterns and gain a greater understanding of each partner's needs and values. Throughout this process, I’ll support you in developing practical communication skills and strategies to strengthen connection, navigate conflict, and deepen understanding within your partnership.
Intimacy and Sexuality: I support individuals and couples navigating the complexities of sexuality and intimacy. Because many of us receive limited education around healthy sexuality and relationships, I focus on helping you develop the communication skills needed to confidently verbalize boundaries, explore gender identity, express sexual desires, and deepen emotional and physical intimacy. We'll work to reduce shame, navigate conflict, and cultivate a more connected and satisfying intimate relationship.
Grief and Loss: I provide a compassionate and collaborative space to navigate the complexities of grief and loss. Whether you're mourning the death of a loved one or adjusting to a significant life transition, we'll move through your experience together at a pace that feels right for you. There is no "right" way to grieve, and my hope is to provide steady support as you make sense of your loss and move toward healing.
Approaches: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Systems Theory, Person-Centred Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Areas of Focus: Anxiety, Depression, Grief & Loss, Self-Esteem, Loneliness & Isolation, Men’s Mental Health, Sexuality & Intimacy, and Relationship Challenges.

I look forward to continuing my professional development and pursuing certification as a sex therapist.
Beyond the Work: Outside of work, you'll often find me exploring nature with my dog, getting lost in a good book, trying a new recipe in the kitchen, or slowly learning the art of gardening.
