About Tayler
Hello, I’m Tayler, and I use she/her pronouns. I have completed a master’s degree in counselling psychology at City University of Seattle in Canada, and a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation with BCACC.
I grew up in Calgary and later in Surrey, BC. My father was in the military, which brought unique challenges, and I began counseling early in life to help navigate family dynamics.
In 2015, I earned my Educational Assistant certificate, and following that, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Political Science. I also spent a year in Berlin working as an au pair, caring for three young children. This experience was incredibly rewarding, allowing me to combine my love for working with children and my passion for travel.
I have over a decade of experience working as an Educational Assistant, supporting neurodiverse individuals and addressing their educational and accessibility needs, both inside and outside the school system. Additionally, I have extensive experience in victim services, where I supported survivors of domestic and sexual violence, providing emotional support and guidance through the criminal justice system when needed.
My advocacy work expanded into policy, where I focused on breaking down barriers and addressing accessibility needs for survivors. I’ve had the privilege of joining and supporting many campaigns on consent locally, federally, and internationally. These experiences led me to seek a deeper, long-term connection with clients, inspiring my shift from policy work to counseling.
The areas of focus I am interested in including working with body image, navigating through gender-based violence, and exploring sexual motivation, desire, and function. My background in supporting individuals with disabilities also informs my approach, fostering resilience and promoting personal empowerment.
My approach is trauma-informed and tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. I am still refining my theoretical approach, but I am intrigued by Person-Centered Therapy, where the client is the guide, as well as Experiential Therapy techniques and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I often incorporate psychoeducation to provide clients with essential information.
I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their experiences and work toward healing. I believe in each person’s capacity for growth and feel honored to be part of their journey.
