Tonya Beattie is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, with over 18 years of experience. She has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Waterloo. Tonya is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
Tonya's area of interest includes; counselling students (12 years+), individuals, relationships, and families. Tonya supports clients using various therapeutic modalities such as; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Gottman Relationship Therapy, Polyvagal, and Trauma and Attachment-informed Informed Therapy. Integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) are also core parts of her work. Additionally, Tonya is a trained Sex Therapist through the University of Guelph. Tonya has over 15 years of experience supervising Bachelor of Social Work students and Master of Social Work students. She believes in lifelong learning and in particular the benefits of bidirectional learning to the field of social work.
