Body composition analysis is a physical test that measures the proportion of the various components of a person's body. Our focus is to assess clients of all types to help them get a baseline body composition to assist them in their long term goals. We utilize the BodyMetrix Ultrasound unit which gives a comparably accurate assessment of body fat percentage next to DEXA & hydrostatic weighing without the need for exposure to radiation or hassle of dunk tanks. Fasting and restriction from exercise is not required for this test.
Metabolism is the term to describe how our body transforms energy to be able to run all its functions to keep us alive. Our metabolic rate is the rate at which our body burns calories. The metabolic rate is the major factor in how quickly and how easily a person can change their weight. RMR is important because using it we can measure the minimum number of calories we burn in a day. If we know how many calories we burn and we have a knowledge of how many calories we consume (eat), then we have a useful tool to work with when we are looking at changing our weight. The assessment is easy. It will probably be the easiest test you ever have to do. It will last about 25 minutes once the equipment is set up and the test begins. You just have to lie on a comfortable table, relax, and breathe normally. Avoiding exercise for 24 hours and fasting for 6 hours prior is required for this test
This appointment will provide you with both Resting Metabolic Rate Assessment as well as a Body Composition Assessment. These tests are both descriped above under their individual appointment descriptions.
During this online appointment we will guide you through the steps to achieve an optimal set-up of your workstation. We will review different ways of achieving an optimal set-up depending on needs and available equipment with assistance in applying the fix that works for you. If we feel different or additional equipment is needed we will discuss options and where to find what you need. You will also receive a written report and a stretch card outlining the stretches discussed. Photos of your workstation will be required to be sent in advance of your appointment.

In-person visit or phone call with the Kinesiologist if you have any questions or just want to chat before booking an assessment.
Initial assessment with the Kinesiologist will include the following: focused history, physical testing, goal setting, and making a plan of action. Whether you're looking for personal training to improve overall health & fitness or exercise therapy for an injury - this is the place to start!
The single most critical factor that determines the benefit of aerobic exercise is intensity – how hard you exercise. Training at the correct intensity for each type of workout optimizes the body's response, giving you the greatest workout efficiency. Most people exercise too hard. Whether attempting to improve endurance, lose weight, or increase sustainable speed, almost everyone goes harder than is ideal. Testing is the only way to learn the most efficient workout intensities for your unique physiology and get the most out of every workout. VO2Max testing can clarify the precise target heart rates that will enable each individual to exercise more effectively, with less fatigue and fewer injuries, and lose weight more quickly while becoming more cardio-fit. Avoiding exercise for 24 hours and fasting for 6 hours prior is required for this test

Posture is the position in which you hold your body upright against gravity while standing, sitting or lying down. Attaining good posture involves training your body to stand, walk, sit and lie in positions where the least strain is placed on supporting muscles and ligaments. A client’s posture provides much information regarding the natural state of their tissues. Through postural analysis it is possible to determine which areas of the body are under more strain than others, and which muscle groups and joints are causing this strain. Our office utilizes a combination of visual, posture chart, photographic and computerized assessment techniques to get the most accurate results possible.
