Shiatsu is a Japanese massage that focuses on rebalancing the body's energy (Ki) by applying finger pressure along the body meridians. Its origins date back more than 2500 years in Chinese techniques like Do-in, Anma and Ampuku. Due to the cultural exchanges between China and Japan and the advancement of western medicine, shiatsu was borned at the beginning of the twentieth century. One of the particularities of shiatsu is that it is performed dressed, and no oils are used. A full session works head to toe because the meridians flow in the whole body. With gentle pressure the practitioner aims to re-establish the natural flow of Ki/Qi following the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s known to reduce stress and pain, improve sleep, digestive tract issues, and hormonal imbalances. Trauma informed practice. To be able to receive a shiatsu please wear loose fitting clothing.
