90 min Being far from your country and facing the challenges of immigration make it really difficult to find your new identity and social support to feel safe and functional. On top of these challenges, The ongoing crisis in Iran has profoundly impacted Iranian people, their families, and their community.
If you are looking for emotional support and want to connect with other Iranian people for encouragement, care, and connection, join our weekly support group for Iranian community members, led by Parinaz Falsafi, RCC.
This group offers an opportunity for you to discuss your feelings and the challenges of living in a new country while your mother country and your belongings are in a painful situation. While you struggle to adjust to your new lifestyle, many far from your homeland, you may feel worried about how your family and friends are doing. You may not be in touch with your families and social supports as much as you were before, and maybe you have fears, hopelessness, sadness, and other complex feelings. If you are in this situation, our support group can help.
In this group, members can speak openly about their feelings and develop positive skills to cope with the current situation in Iran. This group aims to help members feel less lonely, isolated and judged; reduce distress, depression, and anxiety; and help members gain a sense of empowerment, control, and hope.
In this group, Parinaz will use different techniques based on the group members’ unique needs. She will focus on the Here and Now, the relationship between our body and mind, and our automatic reactions in different situations. Parinaz will support you to find patterns and cognitions that may be keeping you stuck. This combination of approaches will help members get in touch with their inner thoughts and feelings through deep conversations about coping in this crisis.
This is a 6-week closed group on 6 consecutive Sundaydays from 10am-11:30am.
Space is limited to 7 participants.
