“If you have a dental emergency and little time, do not come to this clinic. It was a very disappointing experience and a complete waste of time. I arrived at 1:15 p.m. specifically asking for an emergency appointment. The receptionist told me to take a seat because they might be able to see me before the scheduled time. I trusted that information and waited patiently. However, more than an hour passed and other patients kept arriving and were attended before me, while I was left waiting with no explanation and no consideration for the fact that I was in pain. The impression I got is that they are more focused on charging patients than actually helping people with dental emergencies. The lack of organization and respect for patients’ time was very clear. If you truly have a dental emergency, I strongly recommend going somewhere else. There are much more professional and respectful clinics in the area.”Read moreShow less

“Great local dentist located centrally in Yaletown, close to both SkyTrain stations. Did an Invisalign consultation worry free! Would recommend to others”

“MAX DENTAL USED to be good before they got all new staff and dentist. Now all they care about is getting as much money as possible. I was having a single implant over 2 calendar years to save over their high costs. I went in for the implant screw in December and just before procedure receptionist told me of the cost after insurance of just under $3000 for this day. Well over $1000 more than I had been told and was written on schedule re: costs from them. When I asked why I was not told before I came they blamed another receptionist then it was my plan. I said maybe my yearly limit reached they said they dont know they have no idea why . Dentist came out angry when I said I will not be pressured to have this procedure today without thinking about this extra cost.. I will call my plan and if I am near limit max let's do in January. Dentist started questioning me how do I know I am covered even for implant. I said I was and your office gave me approval estimate from plan!. Then dentist said maybe 2026 you won't be covered just do it now. This would cost me an additional $1500 to $2000 today compared to a few weeks later as it was end of December already.. Dentist then said their fees may increase in January. In the end they forced me to pay $320 for lab fees before allowing me to leave office. In January I kept phoning to see when there new estimate would be put in so i could get the procedure. Again excuses and excuses and ultimately the one they went with the most was blaming my insurer said that they had a blackout beginning of January. I called insurer they said they did not have a blackout. I went to another dentist they gave me the approval estimate in a few days. I got the implant The cost less than Half the price! And he even teaches students dental implants when he is not working. Very professional and caring dentist and office staff. MAX dentist refuses to refund The $320 for the day i was forced to pay for no services for so called lab fees. I asked yesterday for tax slip and of course this $320 fee not included. And when the new dentist contacted Max dental the receptionist would not forward xray before I called Max. Max again threatened. me saying all the planning and work they did and said if I did not use them I need to pay lab fees. I said you already forced me to pay over $300 in so called lab fees for no services end of December. I am so happy with new dentist and will end up saving thousands on total costs with this single implant. PLEASE price around before before booking appointments with Max Dental”Read moreShow less

“This was my first time visiting Max Dental in Yaletown, and I went in with my wife, who has already been a patient there several times. I can completely understand why she keeps coming back. The entire team is extremely professional, welcoming, and attentive. Everything was explained clearly, and I felt comfortable and well cared for throughout my visit. It was a wonderful experience overall, and I would highly recommend this clinic.”Read moreShow less

“I was introduced here by an ex lol, but have continued to come here because their service has always been so warm & friendly, thorough check ups, they don't pressure you into things (no bs!), and if you have any budget concerns or concerns in general they're always considerate. I also don't find their rates more than average, at least from what I hear around so even though they're in Yaletown they're quite fair. I have my current partner coming here now and he also likes them!”Read moreShow less

“Everyone is so incredible sweet and gentle here! Super nice people to talk to and the most painless cleaning by Janille (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) also didn’t feel pressured at all into Invisalign either - highly recommend Dr. Shin!”
