Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing process. It can relieve pain and promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It accomplishes this by releasing growth factors in the injured tissue. Shockwave therapy is a type of regenerative medicine. It is used to treat tendinopathy as well as difficult-to-heal ligament injuries. Some degenerative tendinopathies have an associated buildup of calcium in the tendon. Shock waves can break those deposits up. Shockwave therapy is used to treat various sports injuries. Kinesiology is the scientific study of body movement. Kinesiology addresses physiological, biomechanical, and psychological mechanisms of movement. A kinesiologist can help you with active rehabilitation. This is a method of rehabilitation that improves your movement, regains flexibility and strength to muscles and joints that have suffered from injury, and gets you back to where you were before your injury.
This treatment is only for select patients under WSBC care and can only be scheduled in under Yafa and Firass' discretion.
