Great place to get all your optometry needs taken care of. The staff were extremely helpful and fully explained the options offer to us after our eye exams. My wife was diagnosed with cataracts. They took care of the referral to the optomoligist, after surgery glasses and fitted custom clip on sunglasses for her! Can’t say enough about these good folks!Read moreShow less

We recently visited several times and received such great service! First, to replace my wife's glasses and also my mother-in law's, then to have a bent pair fixed, which Brian did free of charge. He is very personable. He is also an excellent craftsman, so the lenses and frames are measured carefully and fitted to perfection. He has certainly earned our trust. On top of that, he's such a nice man!Read moreShow less

I brought in a sentimental pair of sunglasses that I had accidentally sat on and badly bent out of shape. Honestly, I didn’t think they could be saved. Not only did they manage to repair them, but they came out looking even better than before the damage. Truly a 10/10 job that completely exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend to anyone in need of eyewear repairs!Read moreShow less

Overall an extremely pleasant experience! Brian was so thorough in fitting my new glasses — not just adjusting the frame but considering where my pupils sit in the lenses, how my eyes move when looking in different directions, etc. I opted for the Essilor Eyezen lenses and they’re superior to anything I’ve had. With previous lenses I could see clearly but was aware that I was looking through lenses. With my new lenses, they’re so clear that it would be easy to forget that I’m actually looking through lenses. (Brian also painstakingly crafted nose pads for a pair of readers whose pads fell apart!)Read moreShow less

MISTAKE. Unprofessional, incompetent. Took my favourite glasses for a tiny adjustment I thought a professional could do better than me. What a mistake! Kevin who told me he had so many years of experience broke my glasses, irreparably. He relied on the sign at front that releases them apparently from liability right up front. Then when I picked up the pieces of my glasses I asked for a record of transaction. Even though he had one written out right in front of me he refused to give me a receipt like “ no charge” for example and what the outcome was. He said he was going to shred that record. Shred it!! And I was supposed to be grateful to him because he said, he did research for a half hour on how to fix them, so that was for free and I should be happy. When I pointed out that it was him who broke them, he said “No YOUR DOG broke them!” I mean, what do you say to that? They weren’t broken- I could have worn them, I could have tried fixing them myself. But yeah, bad decision. Then he told me he was SO SORRY that I came in today at all and I was the worst client ever. He barely gave me a card that I asked for to even know what the shop was where I had been. Ultimately absolutely refused to give me any record in writing. “That’s your record” (pointing to the baggy with the pieces of my glasses). That’s worth repeating, WOW. I’m so sorry I decided to try to give them a try. (Yes I’ve been there before and so yes I am an existing client and THAT’s how you too can get treated if you decide to take a chance on Rx Eyewear in James Bay). So, Zero stars.Read moreShow less

Rx Eyewear in James Bay is truly a hidden gem. Jean, the owner and operator, is always kind, professional, and welcoming—with a smile that makes every visit a pleasure. Her clinic is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology you’d expect from a modern optometrist’s office, and the selection of designer frames is both impressive and stylish. I had lost a pair of very expensive prescription sunglasses because the arms were too short. They no longer sat on my face correctly and easily slid off when I bent over. I miraculously found them after my friend contacted me, telling me that he found them under his bed from when I was helping him move. After taking them to Jean at Rx, she modified the arms to be straight, and they now fit better than they did when they were new. She didn't charge me a cent either! What really sets Rx Eyewear apart is the level of care and attention Jean brings to every interaction—you genuinely feel like royalty. I’m lucky to live just a few blocks away, but even if I didn’t, I’d happily go out of my way to come here. And if you do, you’ll be glad you did too!Read moreShow less

My experience of buying my daughter's and my new glasses was terrific. Brian is very professional and patient to give us a detailed explanation of the subtle differences among various lenses and frames. His ways of doing things was gentle and friendly, and of course made us feel relax and reliable. With his knowledge and communication style, we were very satisfied with our new, high qualified glasses, and for sure hope to see Brian again soon.Read moreShow less

My experience at RX eyewear and with Brian was exceptional. I recently had some new glasses made with progressive lenses. Never in my life have I had such a thorough consultation regarding frame and lens choices. His consultation was very informed and very professional. By arranging an appointment he was able to concentrate on my needs, which I greatly appreciate. I just picked up my glasses and I could not be happier with the clarity and fit. I believe this to be a result of his careful fitting and recommendations.Read moreShow less

I have been meaning to get new glasses for years and finally decided it was time. Only being back in Victoria for a few weeks meant I needed a place I could trust and knew I would get high quality glasses. My family recommended Rx Eyewear and I wasn't disappointed. Brian was incredibly helpful and meticulous with the process of choosing the right lens and frames. Giving multiple options really felt like his priority was my happiness and not about moving product. His care and demeanor made the decision for new glasses a pleasant endeavor. I have to say that I haven't been this impressed with a shopping experience in a long time. I cannot recommend Rx Eyewear and Brian enough. Take the time to enjoy James Bay and let Brian find you the perfect glasses for you.Read moreShow less
