60 minPrenatal massage relieves stress and discomfort in pregnancy and helps relieve headaches and swelling from increased blood flow. Depending on the trimester, Massage Therapy is usually done in the side-lying position. This is usually determined after initial assessment. Most pregnant women may experience discomfort in areas such as the back, neck, legs as well as swelling in the feet and hands. Some of the conditions treated are: Backaches – When the baby grows, pregnant women may lean back to compensate for the additional tummy weight which can put stress on the joints, spine and abdominal muscles. Edema – There is an increase in fluid volumes later in pregnancy, which leads to excessive swelling. Headaches during and after pregnancy. There are multiple factors which contribute to headaches including stress, dehydration and increased muscle tension.
