re you hiding your pain? Feeling like you are barely holding on? Managing to function but no one else knows how you really feel inside? Do you feel overwhelmed, inadequate, exhausted and are questioning yourself - your ability to cope and juggle all of life's demands? My passion is working with women who are trying to manage life as a mom & their careers. Young adults who are trying to find their place in the world, coping with relationships, demanding education life, and new careers. Supporting parents with tools to cope with the ever changing needs and challenges of family life. Working with families in need of post-adoption support holds a special place in my heart. Life happens, events occur that throw us all for a loop and can change our confidence and ability to cope and can lead to stress, anxiety, uncertainty, and feelings of depression. It is my hope to provide a comfortable place for people to explore feelings that are difficult to share anywhere else. To help people slow life down, build confidence, make changes, and develop new ways of coping. My work is rooted in warmth and acceptance, providing a client- centered and strengths based approach. I use an integrated approach combining relational therapy and cognitive behavioural theory. I draw from a variety of treatment modalities including art therapy and play therapy therapy techniques. I have a wealth of experience in dealing with trauma and extensive experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and families. Joanne Girardin's educational background includes a Masters of Social Work with a specialization in mental health. She earned a Bachelors of Arts with a major in Psychology and Master of Social Work. Joanne is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and is registered in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
