About Alison
Their own wordsI am a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist, graduating from Hua Xia Acupuncture, Massage and Herbs College in Wpg.
Before becoming an acupuncturist, I spent 20 years as a professional dance artist, performing and teaching in Wpg. and Vancouver. I also worked at the North End Women’s Centre, where I provided auricular acupuncture to support individuals experiencing stress, trauma, grief, and substance use challenges.
TCM has been an important part of my own health journey, helping me recover from injuries, manage stress, pain, and support my well-being.

Acupuncture is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use disposable needles into specific points on the body to help reduce pain, restore balance, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

Everyone responds differently to acupuncture. You may feel a mild sensation, tingling, warmth, or heaviness when the needles are inserted, or feel nothing at all. Once the needles are in place, the treatment is deeply relaxing and should not be painful.

Some people experience relief immediately, while others notice improvement over the next 24–48 hours. Depending on the condition being treated, several treatments (often 3–5) may be recommended before determining how well acupuncture is working for you. The number of treatments required varies for each individual.

Acupuncture is commonly used to help manage pain, headaches and migraines, stress and anxiety, depression, insomnia, hormonal concerns, digestive conditions, edema, injury recovery, addiction support, other acute and many chronic health concerns.

Your treatment may also include complementary Traditional Chinese Medicine therapies such as cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, acupressure or electro-acupuncture when appropriate for your condition.
