Andrea Brown works out of our Burlington office and provides therapy to adults throughout Ontario by video. She provides psychotherapy to adults presenting with a range of conditions, including posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, addictions, abuse, and anxiety. She has experience with several psychotherapy modalities, including cognitive processing therapy (CPT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Andrea has a client-centred therapy and trauma-informed approach that uses evidence-based therapies to assist clients to achieve their goals.
###Training and Experience:
Andrea completed her Master of Science in Psychotherapy from McMaster University. She completed her PhD in Applied Social Psychology** from the University of Guelph.
In addition to her work at Brookside Therapy, Andrea works in the Trauma & Recovery Research Unit at McMaster University, where she conducts trauma-focused research with public safety personnel, healthcare providers, and military members/veterans. Since 2015, Andrea’s research focus has been on mental and addictions research and evaluation, with a specialty on healthcare workers, military sexual trauma (MST), and posttraumatic stress disorder. She holds the position of part-time Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences Department at McMaster University.
