About Austin
Austin (he/they) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Canadian Certified Counsellor who works with adolescents and adults in an affirming, thoughtful, and collaborative way. They care deeply about creating spaces where people can show up as they are, make sense of their experiences, and feel supported without being judged or rushed.
Austin holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and has completed supervised clinical training in school-based and community counselling settings. Most recently, they became fully registered as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, in addition to their approval as a Canadian Certified Counsellor. This reflects an important step in Austin’s professional practice and their continued commitment to ethical, accountable, and affirming counselling care.
Their work is informed by anti-oppressive and anti-colonial perspectives, with an understanding that mental health is shaped not only by individual experiences, but also by systems, culture, identity, and context.
Their areas of focus include gender and identity exploration, neurodivergence, trauma, religious harm, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Austin draws on approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care, while working in a holistic way that attends to emotional, relational, and body-based experiences alongside practical coping skills.
Austin is especially committed to supporting people who have felt marginalized or misunderstood, including 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent clients. They also have experience supporting clients in rebuilding trust in themselves, their relationships, and their values.
Outside of counselling, Austin enjoys spending time in nature, collecting plants, rocks and gems, baking, gaming, and writing poetry.
