**My Journey & Background** I grew up right here in Langford, and my path to becoming a counsellor has been shaped by a lifelong commitment to understanding human potential, resilience, and connection. For over a decade, I have dedicated myself to the helping profession, walking alongside individuals navigating their darkest and most complex moments. My approach is deeply informed by my own lived experience overcoming adversity, as well as a long history in highly competitive sport. Athletics taught me firsthand about grit, accountability, the power of mindset, and what it takes to rebuild after a setback. I bring that same grounded, resilient energy into my clinical work, understanding that healing requires patience, practice, and the right support system. **Clinical Style & What to Expect** In the therapy room, my goal is to create a space where you can completely let your guard down because you are never too much here. I balance practical, directive solutions with collaborative, open processing. This means we will look at the big picture together: understanding your patterns, exploring new perspectives, and building concrete, practical strategies you can actually use in your day-to-day life. You set the tempo. We move forward entirely at your pace, whether that means jumping straight into trying new skills or taking all the time you need just to feel safe, heard, and supported first. My practice is completely trauma-informed and evidence-based. I tailor our sessions to your unique needs, drawing primarily from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Narrative Therapy. Together, we will explore your challenges, clarify your core values, manage stress, and actively build resilience. I work with teenagers, adults, and elders navigating a wide range of struggles, including but not limited to: _Anxiety and Depression ● Major Life Transitions & Identity Shifts Relationship ● Dynamics & Communication ● Burnout, Stress, and High-Performance Pressures ● Grief, Loss, and Navigating Adversity_ **Let’s Connect** Choosing to start therapy or transition to a new counsellor is a significant step, and it is completely normal to feel a mix of anticipation and vulnerability. You don't have to have it all figured out before you sit down with me, and you don't need to polish your story. Wherever you are at today, and whatever you are carrying, I invite you to reach out. Let’s connect for a free consultation to see how we fit, and begin mapping out a path forward that feels genuinely right for you. BenHill@alignhealth.ca
