Integral Counseling Session (Naturopathic Visit x
“If you are struggling, integral counseling can help. Integral counseling emphasizes growth and development in areas that are specific to the individual needs of the client. One client may need help building skills in discipline, behavioral change, and strategies to focus attention. Another may need help in processing a traumatic event that has been causing reactive relationship patterns, insomnia and anxiety. And another may need training and support in self-talk and building self esteem.
Integral counseling looks at the entirety of a person’s life experience and seeks to facilitate growth and development in multiple areas of life experience as a means of overcoming mental, emotional, and physical obstacles to health. It concentrates on the connections between our personalities, our cultural experience and past history, our physical health as well as our purpose as human beings.
Somatic Experiencing ® (SE) is a foundation of this counseling.
SE is a trauma processing therapy which utilizes awareness of body sensation to discharge trapped energy from the nervous system and renegotiate the choices available to the nervous system instead of staying stuck in "fight or flight" mode. SE™ can be an effective technique for many types of trauma including medical procedures, car accidents, falls, head injuries, and other more complex trauma such as past abuse.
This technique does NOT rely on retelling your story, and reliving traumatic events over and over.
