About Chris
Registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, Chris brings 25 years of counselling experience, including 10 years clinical practice, working with a culturally diverse range of clients in both Canada and the United Kingdom. Chris’ experience includes working with children, families, suicide prevention, mental health and addictions, trauma and grief and loss.
Chris has a holistic, person-centered and integrative approach to counselling, drawing from a range of modalities that includes Somatic Experiencing, Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Art therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Chris also draws on many years experience of facilitating groups with a special focus on healthy relationships, men’s health and supporting mental health.
Common goals that Chris has helped many people work towards include
· Holistic health, achieving a mind, body, spirit and heart approach to changing behaviour
· Identifying the connections between personal problems, environmental factors and family systems
· Developing communication skills, relationship health, goal setting, and life skills
· Tools for grounding, self-care, stress and crisis management
Chris’ own tools for staying healthy include cultivating mindfulness, spending time with family and friends, playing soccer, spending time in nature, enjoying music and being creative.
