About Courtney

Their own words
Accepting Clients August 2026 Courtney Orr is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), graduate of Yorkville University’s Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program, and a proud Carleton University alumna with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Courtney is passionate about creating a therapy space that feels warm, authentic, and genuinely human. Having navigated her own transitions and life changes, she understands that growth is rarely linear and that most people are simply doing their best with the tools they have. This perspective shapes her approach to therapy, allowing her to connect with clients in a way that is compassionate, relatable, and free from judgment. She believes therapy doesn’t have to feel rigid or intimidating. While maintaining professionalism and evidence-based practice, Courtney strives to create an environment where clients can show up exactly as they are. Whether that means coming to session in cozy clothes, bringing a favourite snack, or reaching for a fidget toy during a difficult conversation, she wants clients to feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Therapy is challenging work, and Courtney believes comfort and connection can make that work feel a little more manageable. Courtney’s therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). She views clients as the experts in their own lives and sees her role as walking alongside them while they navigate challenges, build self-awareness, and create meaningful change. Rather than focusing solely on symptom management, Courtney works with clients to better understand themselves, identify their strengths, and move toward the life they want to build. Courtney aims to provide a safe and supportive space where they feel heard, understood, and empowered. Courtney works with adults and young adults (typically 16+). She enjoys supporting clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, self-esteem concerns, substance use challenges, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. She is especially passionate about working with individuals who are exploring identity, building confidence, and trying to better understand themselves. Courtney also enjoys supporting clients who feel “stuck” or overwhelmed and are looking for a space to slow down, reflect, and begin making meaningful changes at their own pace. A Few Fun Facts About Courtney - There is a very good chance she will arrive to session with an iced coffee in hand. - She loves Pilates and values movement as an important part of overall wellness. - Has a collection of fidget toys and is always on the lookout for new additions
