Therapeutic Ultrasound Treatment for a Blocked Duct. A blocked duct is when the milk can’t flow freely, resulting in a tender or painful lump in the breast area. The skin around the area may appear red and swollen. Therapeutic ultrasound can be used to help with a blocked duct. If two treatments on two consecutive days does not help the blocked duct, no further treatments are needed. Usually only one treatment is needed. The therapeutic ultrasound treatment is performed for 5 minutes. After the therapeutic ultrasound is performed, applying heat to the area is recommended. Followed by breast feeding or using a pump.

All areas of the body will benefit indirectly through activation of the parasympathetic nervous system but direct improvements through this form of treatment can help with a variety of issues relating to the head and neck, pelvis and low back.

30 minute pelvic treatments are ideal for patients who are experiencing urinary or fecal leakage, and/or a pelvic organ prolapse, in which the focus will be on strengthening exercises. Also, for patients who prefer only external treatment. For patients who are currently pregnant, or postpartum, 30 minute appointments should suffice, unless experiencing pain, such as low back or pelvic girdle pain, then 45 minutes would allow for more treatment time. If you have any concerns or questions, please call the clinic 519-208-0333.
