Deb Cehak, RCC
About Deb
Their own wordsIf you've been carrying something for a while, whether that's a stuck relationship, a life transition that hasn't settled or an old story about yourself that keeps running the show, Deb has been in rooms like the one you're considering entering for many years. Her practice takes in a broad range of concerns and populations, and she's known for direct, exploratory conversation.
Deb draws primarily on Narrative Therapy. In the room, that looks like asking a lot of questions, mapping the story you've been carrying and paying attention to how factors like gender, age, race and social class have shaped what you might otherwise think of as your own personal patterns. She treats power dynamics as part of the therapeutic conversation.
Deb does her best work with adults, teens, couples, families, groups and children. She's a strong fit for clients who want a therapist who asks a lot of direct questions and is willing to challenge them.
Deb describes her stance as being in it with her clients: therapy skills on her side, life skills on their side, working together toward preferred ways of living and being in relationships. Clients often say they feel respected and unjudged in the room.
