About Donna
Donna-Lee Zmenak is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 30 years of experience in neuro-rehabilitation and acquired brain injury (ABI). Her work integrates cognitive-communication therapy, executive function support, and whole-person rehabilitation, recognizing that communication recovery is deeply connected to nervous system regulation and self-awareness.
Her practice incorporates evidence-informed complementary approaches including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), breathwork, and self-regulation strategies to support recovery, insight, and resilience. In addition to her regulated SLP practice, Donna-Lee is a Certified Hypnotherapist, working with the subconscious mind and belief systems that influence interpersonal communication, confidence, recovery and identity, particularly following neurological injury or life disruption.
Donna-Lee is an experienced instructor, speaker, and educator, teaching energy psychology, mindfulness, breathwork, and self-regulation to both professionals and the public. She has been honoured in the field of Acquired Brain Injury, including being selected to serve on a CASLPO panel contributing to the development of brain injury practice guidelines. For over 20 years, she has also worked as an independent ABI assessor.
Her approach empowers clients to become active participants in their healing and recovery supporting not only improved communication, but restored confidence, agency, and authentic expression.
