Before returning to his Vancouver roots, Dr. Bernard worked as an associate Chiropractor at the renowned “OC Fight Docs” in Southern California where he worked with a wide range of patients from children and seniors, to professional athletes and Hollywood stars (UFC, Bellator, NFL, CFL, NHL, NLL, NCAA, and Olympic level). Dr. Bernard became interested in sports therapy from a young age having to rehabilitate through numerous knee and ankle injuries sustained while playing lacrosse. This experience led him to pursue his Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology, with a concentration in Active Health and Rehabilitation from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. He then went on to complete his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic West Campus in San Jose, California. Specializing in soft tissue therapies and individualized corrective exercises, Dr. Bernard uses a wide variety of techniques to maximize optimal function and performance: instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), Active Release Technique (ART), chiropractic adjustments/joint mobilizations, percussion therapy, cupping, and functional movement-based screenings to identify biomechanical dysfunctions. Striving to create the most educational and evidence-based approach to his care, Dr. Bernard is constantly furthering his skills with post-graduate certifications. He is currently a certified Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms), a Functional Movement Techniques Rocktape Medical Professional, and a Full-Body Certified A.R.T.© provider. He is also a course instructor for HawkGrips – the premier company in instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM).
