About Katrina
Their own wordsIt's hard not to feel the weight of the world these days. Many people are struggling with their mental health, and the increased stress in today’s world can have a negative impact on our ability to cope in an effective and healthy way. If you need help, support, guidance, and/or change in your life, please feel free to reach out. I believe that therapy can help you to move forward from your current obstacles and improve your mental health, thereby improving your day-to-day functioning and mood, current relationships, and future goals. I believe that the therapeutic relationship and a good rapport is very important; hence, finding the right psychologist for you is encouraged. I also believe that therapy should be collaborative, with you setting the initial treatment goals at the beginning and us working together to accomplish your goals.
I obtained my doctoral degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology in 2014 and have been working as a Registered Psychologist in BC for over seven years. I have provided assessment and therapy services in federal prisons and provincial correctional centres, trauma therapy and psychological assessments with individuals injured at work, and vocational rehabilitation, learning disorder, and ADHD assessments for clients with barriers to employment. I have experience working with adults and adolescents (ages 10-18 years) who have depression, anxiety, anger, emotion management, substance use, chronic pain, attention/concentration, learning, and relationship/interpersonal difficulties as well as individuals who are experiencing life, family, and/or work-related stress, and those who are on leave from work due to mental health concerns. I also have experience providing psychotherapy to first responders (e.g., police, firefighters, paramedics, correctional officers, and nurses) who have been diagnosed with mental health disorders such as acute stress, adjustment related concerns, and PTSD due the significant difficulty of their jobs and the accumulation of traumatic experiences they often encounter. I enjoy working with clients who desire a change in life but who are struggling to make that change.
