About Mahe
Dr. Mahe Awan is a Registered Social Worker and Clinical Mental Health Therapist with over a decade of experience supporting individuals, youth, couples, and families. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Waterloo and a PhD from the University of Surrey (UK), where her research explored systemic barriers related to identity, equity, and inclusion—perspectives that continue to inform her inclusive and culturally responsive practice. She is also a certified Career Development Practitioner and an active member of the BC and Ontario Associations of Social Workers.
Dr. Awan’s approach is systems-informed, trauma-sensitive, and neuroaffirming, with a strong focus on emotional safety, attachment, and nervous system regulation. She integrates Family Systems Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), somatic-based practices, and inner child work to help clients better understand patterns, reconnect with earlier emotional experiences, and create meaningful, sustainable change.
Her work is grounded in a deep respect for identity, culture, and lived experience. She supports clients in building self-awareness, resilience, and connection, while gently exploring how early experiences may continue to shape present-day emotions and relationships—moving beyond insight toward lasting growth.
Dr. Awan works with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism and neurodivergence, relationship challenges (personal and professional), burnout, life transitions, and trauma. She is committed to creating a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered in their healing journey.
