Emma McLellan
About Emma
Their own wordsIf you’re in the early months of parenthood and don’t recognise yourself yet, or if a relationship has left something in you that hasn’t settled, Emma has spent years in rooms like the one you’re considering entering. Her practice covers the ground where intimate life meets the pressure of public and professional life, with particular focus on perinatal shifts, the complexities of parenthood, intimate partner violence, workplace anxiety and grief.
Emma works primarily with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) alongside attachment theory. Her practice has a person-centred foundation and is grounded in feminist social justice work. In the room, that looks like paying close attention to what's happening beneath the immediate feeling and the emotional patterns shaping your closest relationships. She treats the systems you've been living inside as part of the picture alongside your personal patterns.
Emma does her best work with adults navigating major transitions, people processing intimate partner violence and clinicians looking for supervision. She actively welcomes men into her practice, and works with men navigating relationship difficulties, grief and the emotional shifts that come with partnership and parenthood. She currently offers a waitlist for individual therapy clients; clinical supervision clients can typically be scheduled more quickly.
Clients describe Emma as compassionate, warm and genuinely present. Colleagues who receive supervision from her name the same qualities alongside a specific rigour that clinicians look for when they’re choosing who supports their own practice.
