About Genevieve
Supporting youth (12+) and young adults in building emotional insight and resilience as they navigate periods of change, uncertainty, and growth.
Hello! I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor who works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, body image concerns, and life transitions. My goal is to help clients feel more grounded, confident, and connected to themselves. At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change happens within a genuine therapeutic relationship. I approach counselling as a collaborative partnership rooted in curiosity, compassion, and respect, supporting clients in better understanding their inner experiences while working toward goals that feel aligned and attainable.
My background in community-based mental health has strongly shaped my approach to therapy. Through my work with organizations such as the Cool Aid Society and the Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness, I developed a deep appreciation for whole-person care and the broader systems that influence well-being. These experiences inform my ability to meet clients with empathy, flexibility, and an awareness of the social and environmental factors that impact mental health.
I have a particular interest in supporting adolescents and young adults through identity development, emotional regulation, and life transitions. Whether clients are adjusting to school changes, emerging adulthood, relationships, or shifting self-concepts, I offer steady support and practical strategies to help navigate uncertainty with greater confidence.
Areas of Focus:
Anxiety & Depression: I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and emotional challenges by helping them identify patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we work on practical tools for day-to-day coping while also exploring the deeper factors contributing to distress.
Youth & Young Adult Mental Health (12+): Adolescence and early adulthood often bring intense pressure, uncertainty, and self-doubt. I work with youth and young adults navigating school stress, relationships, identity development, and emotional regulation, supporting them in building resilience and self-trust during these formative years.
ADHD & Executive Functioning: I support clients with ADHD-related challenges such as focus, motivation, organization, and emotional regulation. My approach emphasizes practical strategies, self-compassion, and reframing unhelpful narratives that often develop around productivity and self-worth.
Body Image & Self-Esteem: I work with individuals who struggle with body image concerns, perfectionism, and self-criticism. Therapy focuses on developing a more balanced relationship with self-image and strengthening confidence both internally and within social contexts.
Therapeutic Approach: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
Populations: Youth (12+), Young Adults, Adults.
Specializations: Anxiety, Depression, ADHD & Executive Functioning, Grief & Loss, Emotional Regulation, Body Image/Disordered Eating, Self-Esteem, Life Transitions, and Identity Exploration.
Education & Experience: I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Webster University. My professional background includes both clinical counselling and community-based mental health work across local and international settings.
Culturally Responsive & Globally Informed: I completed my clinical internship at the Webster Counselling Centre in the Netherlands, where I worked with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds experiencing anxiety, depression, identity concerns, and major life changes. Living and working abroad strengthened my ability to approach therapy with cultural sensitivity, openness, and genuine curiosity about each client’s lived experience.
Beyond the Therapy Room: Outside of the therapy room, I can often be found walking along the ocean, browsing local book bins, thrifting, and spending time with family. While I’ve spent time travelling and living abroad, I’m grateful to have found my way home to Victoria.
