Jessica Nickason is a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Manager at The Compassion Clinic, bringing more than 15 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through counselling, mentorship, and clinical care. Her background includes extensive work in correctional mental health and clinical services, where she developed a grounded, practical, and non-judgmental approach to therapy. Jessica also teaches part-time at St. Lawrence College, where she supports Behavioural Psychology students in building strong clinical skills. ​ Jessica’s therapeutic style as compassionate, honest, and real. She creates a safe space for meaningful conversations while also being willing to “say the hard thing” when it supports growth, clarity, and change. Jessica brings humour, authenticity, and directness into her work, helping clients feel seen, respected, and actively supported—not simply listened to, but genuinely engaged with. ​ Jessica uses experiential and relational approaches that go beyond traditional talk therapy. Her work often focuses on helping clients connect with emotions in the present moment, understand patterns in their relationships, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. She has a particular interest in couples counselling and supports partners who feel stuck, disconnected, working through betrayal/infidelity, and navigating relationship structures. She believes in the extraordinary power of repair work in relationships. ​ Having worked in all-male institutions, Jessica is especially passionate about men’s mental health and the pressures, expectations, and emotional patterns that can shape men’s well-being, relationships, and sense of self. She also helps clients of all genders explore how family, culture, gender roles, and community expectations influence how they cope, communicate, and make sense of their experiences. For clients in Kingston and the surrounding area, Jessica offers a down-to-earth, practical, and compassionate space to do meaningful therapeutic work. Fun facts about Jessica - Jessica is a mom to three boys who are active in sports, and she is closely connected to the Kingston minor sports community. - She is also an accomplished runner who is usually training for her next race. One of her bucket-list goals is to complete an adventure marathon along the Great Wall of China. - Having grown up on a farm, Jessica has a lifelong love of dogs, horses, and country life and hopes to return to rural living one day.
