About Joanna
Their own wordsHi, I’m Joanna (Jo), As a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist with more than 20 years of nursing experience, I bring a unique perspective to therapy by combining evidence-informed psychotherapy with a deep understanding of physical health and the healthcare system. My nursing career began in women's health, specializing in labour and delivery, and later expanded into elder and palliative care. These experiences have given me the privilege of supporting individuals and families through some of life's most significant, vulnerable, and life-changing moments.
I believe that knowledge is power. My goal is to help you better understand your health, emotions, and the connection between the two, so you can feel more informed, empowered, and confident in navigating whatever challenges life brings.
I am especially passionate about supporting women through every stage of life—from fertility and pregnancy to postpartum, perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. I also support individuals navigating infertility, birth planning, birth trauma, gynecological health concerns, new medical diagnoses, chronic or complex health conditions, grief and loss (including the loss of beloved pets), caregiver burnout, palliative care, first responder trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I am passionate about helping clients develop a healthier relationship with food and empowering them to advocate for themselves within the healthcare system.
Whether you're facing a major life transition, processing a difficult diagnosis, struggling with anxiety or depression, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don't have to do it alone. Together, we'll create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and understood.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) alongside traditional talk therapy, blending evidence-based strategies with education and emotional support. I believe understanding the "why" behind what you're experiencing can be just as healing as learning the tools to move through it. My hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, empowered, and better equipped to face life's challenges with confidence.
I believe healing isn't about having all the answers—it's about having someone walk alongside you as you discover them.
