Therapy Style and Philosophy
I believe that every child has an innate capacity for growth when they are met with understanding, acceptance, and support. My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and a genuine appreciation for the unique way each child experiences the world. Guided by an understanding of child development, I meet children where they are, honouring their individual pace of growth while nurturing their emotional, social, and personal strengths. I strive to create a warm, engaging, and emotionally safe environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring challenges. I view parents and caregivers as essential partners in the therapeutic process and work closely with families to better understand their child’s emotional and developmental needs. Through practical guidance, psychoeducation, and collaborative problem-solving, I help families develop effective strategies to support their child’s emotional regulation, communication, and overall well-being. My goal is to empower caregivers with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to foster healthy development and strengthen family relationships.
Background & Credentials
I have been registered as a psychologist in Alberta since 2013. I hold a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.), in Applied Psychology from the University of Calgary (2011). I have worked in specialized educational settings, clinical settings, and in private practice providing programming for families of children with developmental disabilities on a multi-disciplinary team. I provide comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for school-age children and adolescents.
Kalyn’s Story
I was raised in Edmonton, Alberta and lived in Winnipeg, Mb while completing my undergraduate degree in psychology. I moved to Calgary in 2008 to pursue graduate studies and have called Calgary home ever since. I have a passion for working with children and supporting families through life’s challenges and transitions. When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, reading a good book or planning my next travel adventure.
