Kester Reid
I am a student counsellor completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. My approach is person-centred at its core, drawing from Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and body-based practices to support clients in reconnecting with their own clarity, resilience, and inner leadership. I also lean toward existential perspectives, shaped by many years of cultural and spiritual work in diverse settings.

Before entering clinical training, I spent more than a decade learning within Indigenous communities in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and the Amazon, including a traditional apprenticeship in an Amazonian healing lineage. These relationships, along with my work running [Danu Folk School](https://www.danufolk.ca/), have grounded my understanding of healing, story, and the importance of belonging—to self, to land, and to community.
I bring a trauma-informed, culturally aware, and collaborative presence to therapy. My background includes navigating my own mixed-heritage identity, working across cultural difference, and engaging in ongoing conversations about privilege, safety, and responsibility. I particularly enjoy helping clients work with dreams to explore their inner life.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and strive to create a space where your lived experience is honoured, your pace is respected, and your voice leads the way.
