About Kirstin
Kirstin is a dedicated educator with a strong foundation in psychology and a passion for supporting students and individuals with diverse needs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and began her career as a Behavioural Interventionist and Autism Education Assistant with the Surrey School District, where she supported children, youth, and young adults on the autism spectrum. This experience inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Education, and she is currently a Complex Resource Teacher in Langley, where she works with high school students with intellectual disabilities and other complex diagnoses. In this role, she creates individualized learning plans that foster academic success and personal growth for her students.
Kirstin is also pursuing a Master of Education in School Counselling, which she chose to complement her psychology background and her commitment to supporting student mental health and well-being. As a Student Ambassador for City University within the Canadian Therapist Network, she helps connect fellow students with valuable resources and professional development opportunities in the therapy and counselling fields.
In September 2025, Kirstin will begin her internship at Magnolia Health and Wellness, a private practice focused on mental health and wellness. During her internship, she will work with individuals to provide counselling services, helping clients address personal challenges and build emotional resilience. Additionally, she will begin an internship at a local fine art school, where she will gain valuable experience working with students in a creative environment, supporting their mental health and well-being through artistic expression.
Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Kirstin is a proud mother of two and she and her husband are passionate about providing their children with cultural experiences that connect them to their Métis heritage. An avid runner, Kirstin recently completed a half marathon, demonstrating her commitment to personal wellness. She is also actively involved in union work, advocating for educators and working to improve the educational environment for all students.
With a diverse background in education, counselling, and wellness, Kirstin is committed to fostering emotional and academic growth in individuals across a variety of settings, and looks forward to making a positive impact in both her upcoming internships and future professional endeavors.
