About Laurie
laurie@gathercounselling.ca After trading the wide-open skies of the prairies for the ocean many years ago, Laurie found her home in Victoria. Her path to counselling has been shaped by a deep curiosity about people, relationships, and the many ways we make meaning of our experiences. You don't need to have the right words before coming to counselling. Whether you're a teen trying to figure out who you are and where you're headed or an adult feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or at a crossroads, Laurie can help you make sense of difficult experiences and reconnect with what matters most to you. Clients often describe Laurie as warm, genuine, and easy to talk to. Laurie believes therapy should feel supportive and practical. She works collaboratively with teens and adults to create an approach that fits each person's unique needs, strengths, and goals. Drawing from cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches, she helps clients navigate anxiety, depression, overwhelming emotions, life transitions, relationship challenges, trauma, self-doubt, and uncertainty. She also enjoys incorporating creativity through journalling, doodling, reading, and writing when it feels helpful. Her practice is 2SLGBTQ+ affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, person-centred, and trauma-informed. She strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, exploring challenges with curiosity, and building on their strengths. Before becoming a counsellor, Laurie worked in a variety of fields and educational settings, including a local boarding school where she supported students and families from around the world. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography, a Master of Arts in Environmental Education and Communication, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Outside of the counselling space, Laurie enjoys reading, travel, trying new recipes, spending time at the beach, camping, walking local trails, discovering new music, and hanging out with friends and family. She also makes the perfect chocolate chip cookie. RCC Designation Number: 20197En savoir plus sur Laurie et ses titresAfficher moins
