About Marianne
My mission is to provide a safe space for growth, honouring you as the expert of your own life while offering support and guidance along the way.
My practice is grounded in an understanding of the many ways life shapes us—not only through loss, but also through the transitions, challenges, and uncertainties we all face. These might include relationship changes, shifts in identity, struggles within important connections, or health concerns. I believe each of these experiences carries the potential for healing, resilience, and growth.
The following are key areas I work with:
Anxiety, Depression & Self-Esteem: Anxiety and depression can make even simple things—like decisions, conversations, or going for a walk—feel overwhelming and out of reach. These experiences often leave people feeling disconnected from their bodies and caught in cycles of worry or hopelessness. I aim to provide a supportive space where clients can gently untangle the emotions behind these struggles, rebuild self-esteem, and regain a sense of hope and comfort in their own skin.
Grief & Loss: My therapeutic work is grounded in a broad understanding of grief—not only as a response to death, but as a natural reaction to the many transitions we face throughout life. This can include the end of relationships, identity shifts, health challenges, or other changes that bring feelings of loss or uncertainty. At the heart of my approach is the concept of hiraeth, a Welsh term that speaks to the longing for something lost—a home, a moment in time, or a former sense of self. Together, we work to navigate loss, rebuild hope, and discover meaning in the midst of change.
Parent Support: “Parents are people too” was a guiding belief in my work at a children’s hospital and continues to shape how I support families today. Parenting carries layered responsibilities and societal pressures that can lead to overwhelming expectations. As a therapist trained in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), I use attachment-based approaches to help caregivers strengthen emotional attunement, build effective emotion and behaviour coaching skills, and navigate complex family dynamics with compassion. I support parents in reshaping family patterns to foster healthier, more connected relationships.
Disordered Eating: Navigating self-esteem and your relationship with food can be especially challenging in the face of societal and social media pressures. Disordered eating may feel like it offers control, but recovery is about finding empowerment and building a healthier connection with yourself. Together, we’ll focus on both physical healing and the thoughts and emotions behind it, using approaches like CBT, psychoeducation, and supportive tools to create a personalized recovery path. Lasting recovery is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.
Couples: In my work with couples, I draw on PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) principles to support partners in strengthening communication and managing differences in personality and expectations. PREP emphasizes practical skills to reduce conflict, deepen commitment, and build resilience in relationships. Together, we develop tools that foster clarity, trust, and a stronger foundation for lasting connection.

Education and Experience: I’m a Master of Social Work graduate with extensive experience in child mental health, trauma-informed care, and family systems support. I’ve worked with children with complex diagnoses, facilitated family case planning, and co-facilitated parent workshops using advanced Emotion-Focused Family Therapy techniques to strengthen emotional regulation and relational resilience. I’ve also conducted autism and mental health assessments, provided intensive case management, and delivered evidence-based interventions that prioritise both individual healing and family connection.
Beyond the Work: In my personal time, I love to travel and experience different cultures, go hiking and swimming, teach Pilates, and spend time with friends, family, and my lovely dog Millie. When feasible, I endeavour to work on social policy issues, including sex work trafficking and housing homeless youth.
