Marion Orr, RCC
About Marion
Their own words“Therapy is a creative pursuit. It can be fun, engaging, challenging, and rewarding. We can accomplish great things when given time, space, and compassionate support.”
I specialize in helping individuals and their loved ones address mental health and relational challenges such as trauma, PTSD/CPTSD, depression, anxiety, OCD, relational conflicts, and communication challenges. Although therapy can be a challenging and brave endeavour, I believe sharing our humanity through humour, collaboration, and creativity are essential aspects of the process.
Using a combination of Somatic Experiencing (SE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Emotion-Focused Couples’ Therapy, and Mindful Self-Compassion, I aim to increase curiosity and insight about how your body and mind work together. This might include processing unresolved trauma responses with somatic (body-based) approaches, exploring thoughts, feelings, and impulses that feel out of your control, improving how you connect with loved ones, identifying ways to live in alignment with your values, reconnecting to a sense of purpose, or improved engagement in meaningful activities.
I love that therapy can provide a safe space for authenticity and connection in a world that seems to devalue these characteristics. I support love in all forms (LGBTQIA*+) and strive to engage in anti-oppressive practice. I am deeply committed to ensuring ethical care in the mental health profession. Accordingly, I both receive and provide Clinical Supervision and am an active member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA - Counsellor and Supervisor) and the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
