About Mary
True healing happens when we feel safe enough to be fully seen—in our struggles, our strengths, and everything in between.
Choosing to begin therapy is an act of courage. You may be feeling stuck in painful patterns, weighed down by anxiety or depression, navigating unresolved grief, or longing for something different in your relationships. Whatever you are carrying, you don’t have to carry it alone. When we feel truly seen and accepted, something begins to shift—not only in how we think, but in how we experience ourselves and the world around us.
Below are some of the key areas I support in my work:
Mental Health: I support adults navigating anxiety, depression, and grief or loss with care, patience, and compassion. Our work creates space for emotions to be felt and understood at a pace that feels safe. The focus is on healing, self-kindness, and finding steadiness during times of change or uncertainty, offering a space where you can explore challenges without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Common areas of focus include self acceptance, relationship and communication support, and life transitions including divorce and separation, career change, and elder support.
Children & Parents/Caregivers: In my work with children ages four to ten, I use sand tray, art therapy, and play-based approaches to support emotional regulation, anxiety, and healing from trauma in developmentally appropriate ways. Somatic and body-based practices help children feel safer in their bodies and build confidence in managing big emotions. I also work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to help extend these supports beyond the therapy room and into everyday life.
Neurodivergence: I have a strong passion for working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, FASD, and Traumatic Brain Injuries. I take a neuro-affirming approach that respects sensory needs, communication styles, and each person’s unique way of experiencing the world.
Trauma & PTSD: My work with trauma and PTSD, including complex and developmental trauma, is grounded in an attachment-focused and trauma-informed approach. I integrate parts work and somatic practices to support nervous system regulation, deepen self-understanding, and gently process experiences held in both mind and body. Safety, pacing, and collaboration are central to supporting meaningful and lasting healing.
Approaches: Play Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Parts Work, Memory Reconsolidation, GPM for Borderline Personality Disorder, Polyvagal Theory, Existential Therapy.
Populations: Children (4-10), Adults, LGBTQ2S+, BIPOC individuals, and Immigrants.
Specializations: Anxiety, Depression, Grief & Loss, Emotional Regulation, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, FASD, TBI), Parenting Support, Relationship Challenges, Trauma & PTSD, Men’s Mental Health, Co-occurring Mental Health Conditions (BPD, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Schizoaffective Disorder), Life Skills Development, and Life Transitions.
Education & Experience: I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle and have completed postgraduate training in GPM for Borderline Personality Disorder through Harvard Medical School. I have also trained in child-led play therapy and polyvagal-informed approaches for both children and adults. My background includes over twenty years of clinical and community-based experience supporting parents in developing new parenting approaches grounded in the Circle of Security parenting program and Emotionally Focused Therapy for caregivers, as well as more recent work as a clinical counsellor at the Men’s Therapy Centre.
Beyond the Work: Outside of the therapy room, you’ll often find me spending time in nature with my fur-baby, Taz. I enjoy listening to music, thrifting, practical jokes, golfing, swimming, and spending time with the people I care about. I especially treasure time with my nephews and nieces—they remind me of the joy and resilience that are possible at every stage of life.
