AjouterMatt didn't take the straight road into therapy, and he thinks that's a good thing. After earning his BSc in Psychology (with honours) from Saint Mary's University, he explored a few different paths before circling back to the work that mattered most to him, completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University, again with honours.
His focus on trauma began during his practicum at a non-profit clinic, where he offered pro bono support to adults carrying the weight of trauma, anxiety, and depression. Sitting with people in those hard moments showed him both what this work demands and why it's worth doing.

Matt's philosophy is straightforward: you're the expert on your own life. His job isn't to hand you answers it is to build a relationship grounded in genuineness, empathy, and zero judgment, so you have the room to figure out what you need and the support to get there.
No two people are the same, so no two sessions look the same either. Matt pulls from a deep toolkit including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), EMDR, CBT, DBT, and ACT and meets you where you are. For trauma, he works in three phases: first safety and stability, then processing, and finally reconnection because healing shouldn't be rushed.
Off the clock, you'll find him with family and friends, out on a trail, deep in a book, under a barbell, or playing a beloved board game.
Whatever you're working through, Matt is ready when you are.

This session is a free 15 minute online or telephone appointment to give you an opportunity to ask me any counselling-related questions that may help you make an informed decision about therapy, including helping you to determine whether I am the right fit for you.
