May Yao
I work from a trauma-informed, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach, prioritizing emotional safety, trust, and collaboration. I strive to create a supportive space where clients can move at their own pace while exploring thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences, particularly those shaped by stress, adversity, or trauma.
Drawing on my previous experience as a Special Education Assistant, I bring a practical, strengths-based, and behaviorally informed approach to my work with neurodivergent individuals. When working with couples, I integrate principles from the Gottman Method through supporting emotional attunement, communication, and repair.

Drawing on my background in community outreach and my lived experience as a first-generation immigrant, I am particularly aware of the ways systemic stress, cultural transition, and identity can intersect with one's life. I work with kids, teenagers, newcomers, and adults to build resilience, foster self-understanding, and support meaningful, sustainable changes.
