About Melissa
ABOUT:
Melissa is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She earned her B.A. in Social Development Studies from the University of Waterloo and is completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University.
With years of experience supporting individuals through grief and loss, Melissa approaches therapy with a deeply person-centred philosophy. Her long-standing work in hospice care has strengthened her belief that healing unfolds differently for each person, and she is committed to honouring clients’ pace, emotions, and inner wisdom throughout the process.
Melissa works with adults, young adults and youth who are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, workplace challenges, and life transitions. She has a strong interest in helping clients clarify their values, build confidence, and move through periods of uncertainty with increased trust in themselves. Her therapeutic style is warm, relational, and grounded in empathy. She prioritizes emotional safety, empowerment, and respect so clients can explore their experiences with openness and authenticity.
Rooted in Solution-Focused, Socratic inquiry, CBT, DBT, ACT and humanistic approaches, Melissa views therapy as a collaborative journey. She strives to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and genuinely supported as they work toward healing, clarity, and meaningful change.
