As a Naturopathic Physician and mother of two, I practice comprehensive family medicine. I believe in finding the root cause of illness and using the healing power of nature to support the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of wellness and healing. I am passionate about providing primary care to families and empowering and educating my patients to take control of their health. I strive to provide a safe space for my patients to express their health concerns and wellness goals while giving support and providing strategies to reach their health potential. I have a passion for mind body- medicine with a focus on mental wellness and brain health. I provide knowledge which allow my patients to make informed decisions about their health, as well as provide comprehensive treatment plans and wellness strategies formulated from up to date scientific research and clinical experience, which are tailored to each person’s individual needs. Different assessment tools such as blood, stool or urine testing and well as physical exams may be utilized to allow for an informed diagnosis. I focus on strengthening the foundations of health through nutrition and lifestyle modifications which can accelerate healing and prolong health and vitality. Treatment therapies that I utilize are counselling and mindfulness coaching, nutrition and lifestyle management, nutraceuticals, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture and cupping. Prior to attending the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine - Boucher campus, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Calgary. After which, I spent 10 years abroad teaching ESL and traveling before returning to Canada to raise my two children and take additional pre-medical science courses at Simon Fraser University. I am registered and in good standing with the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia (CNPBC) and am a member of the British Columbia’s Naturopathic Doctors (BCND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). I hold certifications in Basic Life Support, Naturopathic Advanced Life Support and Acupuncture. When I am not taking care of my patients and seeking further knowledge, I enjoy spending quality time with my two children and husband of 20 years and our rescue dogs Ozzy and Nico. This may include any relevant past medical history, review of current medications, supplements, and skin care products, dietary concerns, and discussion of any recent blood results. A pap exam is a cervix screening test for cervical cancer. BC Cancer agency recommends that anyone with a cervix, including women and transgender people between ages 25 and 69 be screened for cervical cancer every 3 years. Please note this service is not covered by MSP, and has an associated cost of $110. We can direct bill this cost to your extended health plans under your naturopathic benefits. Please ensure that you will be around mid-cycle (if you have regular periods) when you come in for your PAP test to ensure we get the best sample. Mid-cycle is from Day 10-Day 20 after the first day of your period. Day 1 is the first day of your period bleed.
