Wilford’s passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture stems from a drive to recover and compete. A life long interest in martial arts and combat sports like boxing has allowed Wilford to be well acquainted with skeletal muscular injuries on a personal level and has fuelled his dedication to helping patients recover and get back in fighting shape as TCM helped him to in the past. Beyond his enthusiasm for boxing, Wilford’s experience with construction work and office work has helped him understand the needs and concerns for those suffering from both athletic injures and occupational repetitive strain injuries. Wilford recognizes that whether you’re holding a mouse, hammer, boxing gloves, or a gi in your hands, the need to be functional and pain-free to perform at a level required of you, is universal and important. In additional to using acupuncture needles to facilitate in the healing process, Wilford also offers cupping, tuina (Traditional Chinese Medicine massage therapy), ear seeds, gua sha (Traditional Chinese Medicine scrapping), the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine liniments, and application of IR emitter to mimic the effects of the traditional heat and moxibustion therapies in a comprehensive effort to approach injuries with multiple solutions and points of view. In his free time, Wilford can be found hiking, hitting the heavy bag, or just sitting quietly studying new and old Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques.

A one-on-one foundational Zhan Zhuang Stand Qi Gong, Relaxational Fang Song Gong, and the Eight Brocade Qi Gong form with a focus on health and injury recover and prevention. Movements will be modified from the traditional sets to adjust to the student’s injuries and goals. From these simple to perform but hard to master movements, we will explore and hone the relationship between awareness, breath and movement to build mindfulness in daily tasks, a better awareness of the limitations of your bodies, and low impact daily exercises to maintain joint, tendon and muscles health.
