About Persephone

Their own words
Persephone is a Doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology (PhD) program at the University of British Columbia and holds an MA in Clinical Psychology. She has worked with youth and adults presenting with Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Hoarding Disorder, Learning Disorders, and Selective Mutism. Her clinical training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based modalities. Persephone is continuing to develop specialization in these areas under the supervision of Dr. Bell, with the goal of fostering a secure and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients can navigate challenges, support personal growth, and achieve lasting positive change. In addition to her therapy work, Persephone has conducted a range of psychoeducational and autism assessments, and gained experience supporting youth with selective mutism through her work with Camp Brave. She has also co-facilitated a SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) group for parents. Her clinical approach is informed by her research background. She previously worked as a research assistant at the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre in Toronto, within the Intensive Residential Treatment Program for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, where she interviewed clients and families to better understand the challenges faced by those living with OCD. Persephone is currently completing her dissertation, which examines the impact of stigma on individuals with hoarding disorder, with a particular focus on how stigma shapes the use of large-scale interventions by community service providers.
